Ear Lobe Reduction

Introduction

With patients’ getting more and more expansion like earrings in their ears it is becoming more common for patients to want an earlobe reduction. The other indication for having an earlobe reduction is when a patient feels that their earlobe is overly droopy or long. The overly long earlobe is caused by the effect of gravity pulling the ear downwards.

Procedure

Dr Robinson performs earlobe reduction for a large hole in the ear via excision of one of the edges of the earlobe hole and then advancing the rest of the earlobe over the defect.

For patients’ who have a droopy earlobe Dr Robinson performs a reduction by taking a wedge of the earlobe out. The scar is hidden against the cheek, creating a natural-looking smaller earlobe.
