Septal Perforation Repair

Introduction

A Septal Perforation Repair is a very challenging procedure. There are not many surgeons that feel comfortable performing this procedure. Dr Robinson is one of the most experienced surgeons in perforation closure in Queensland.

Procedure

Dr Robinson performs septal perforation repair via an endoscopic technique. He utilises an anterior ethmoid artery rotation flap which is rotated over the site of the perforation. Dr Dan has a perforation closure rate of over 80% when he is the primary surgeon operating.

This procedure requires a high degree of precision and meticulous planning to ensure that the flap is rotated over the site of the perforation under no tension and that the flap heals.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic and takes approximately 90 minutes. Dr Robinson stents patients’ noses following this procedure and leaves the stents in for a total of 3 weeks.
